Lync is a holistic communication solution made by Microsoft for the business environment. Lync for Mac makes this tool available on the Mac OS X.

User Interface and Features

Lync brings phone and conferencing, and instant messaging under one umbrella. Microsoft has managed to retain at least 90 percent of the features and design of the native Microsoft application, which is a good thing. The original client had everything well-designed, right from the primary interface (located on the left) to context actions while clicking a contact. Some of the salient features transported are the ability to share desktop, receive and send files, instant messaging (IM), receive and make PSTN voice calls, etc. And added to this are some fresh features such as directory contact picture, unique conversation window, etc. You can now participate in virtual meetings with a just an invitation URL.
